Now fair play to her for coming straight out and saying it but that is almost 4 times the national average salary. For a newsreader that I would guess most people have never heard of on a digital TV channel. Is that not perhaps a bit high for a junior journalist paid for from the license fee? It certainly makes me wonder what the more well known presenters are paid.
Incidentally, I can imagine that Paxman, Humphries et. al. will also be asked this now that Ms Gracie has set the precedent. It will be interesting to see how they handle it if it does come up.

ReplyDeleteJunior journalist! I think not! Carrie Gracie is fluent in Chinese, hence her input into the Beijing Olympics, and her commentary in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
