Add in a good media performance by a personable leader, and hey presto, a poll surge. <br /><br />What about when that poll surge prompts a close examination of the actual LD policies in the weeks remaining? What if, when people notice that the Lib Dems are in many ways seriously left-wing, they take fright and run away?<br /><br />Have you perhaps peaked too early?patentlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00602962323262055007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3881762807913180318.post-54312397877754437402010-04-19T12:04:12.207+01:002010-04-19T12:04:12.207+01:00I noticed this morning on Today that instead of ha...I noticed this morning on Today that instead of having a shadow cabinet criticizing the LDs they had Tim Montgomerie instead. Thereby administrating a slagging off but also distancing the Tory party from it at the same time.Alexhttp://iliverightnow.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3881762807913180318.post-37697178353319246142010-04-19T11:44:01.412+01:002010-04-19T11:44:01.412+01:00"The problem is firstly that people are again..."The problem is firstly that people are again sick of hearing this sort of nonsense."<br /><br />Whilst I am sure this is true for those people for whom Westminster is a way of life, I don't believe it is so for the population as a whole.Nick Barneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01346700988114542009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3881762807913180318.post-16082485646405088342010-04-19T10:01:36.975+01:002010-04-19T10:01:36.975+01:00"A vote for Clegg is a vote for Clegg"

T...I wish it was true but this is a bit optimistic. This is a v similar situation as with the Greens in the recent Tasmanian election. Lab and Tory will pick out controversial things from manifesto: soft on drugs, votes for (insert name of vile prisoner), power to Brussels etc. Good policies but easy to dog whistle on and will turn off swing voters. These polls are undoubtedly overstating the vote. Many will say they would vote ld but risk is they won't turn out, or won't actually do it when it comes to the crunch. This surge in polls is great but makes next few weeks very tough.Simon Baptisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11107896507773567208noreply@blogger.com
