There is a lot of spluttering reaction from Tories in particular but I think we should wait and see. Nick Clegg is right to explore all possibilities. That is the nature of negotiation.
It appears that the sticking point of electoral reform has been the big problem with the Tory negotiations. The Conservatives have known all along the strength of feeling in the Lib Dems about this. I am not sure what if anything they have offered on this but as I said the other day they should have been aware that a counter offer was already on the table from Labour.
Fascinating times.
I will be on a panel on Tony Livesey's Radio 5 Live show from 10pm this evening discussing the events of the day.
Didn't catch the show. Does the referendum on AV make it in your opinion?
ReplyDeleteIf not why not and what would you suggest doing?
Now New Labour offer Clegg a bill on AV and a referendum on PR. lol
ReplyDeleteIf he falls for that! The bill will fail as New Labour will allow its backbenchers a free vote. Not sure how they fix the referendum offer - maybe just screw-up the question.
Happy times!
