Is Andrew MacKay kidding himself?

I watched the BBC 6 o'clock news earlier today and was interested to see a piece they did from Bracknell with local MP Andrew MacKay who is currently mired in scandal about his second home allowance. During a brief interview he claimed that the feedback he is getting has indicated that he has the backing of the vast majority of his constituents.

However there is currently a poll on the "Get Bracknell" website (affiliated with the Bracknell Forest Standard) which indicates that following the unacceptable expenses claims 80% of respondents think he should step down as MP and only 12% think he should definitely stay:

These two things do not seem to tally with each other. Is Mr MacKay kidding himself? It could be a very interesting public constituency meeting next Friday.
