According to BBC News sources, Alistair Darling will remain Chancellor.

As Michael Portillo pointed out on This Week last night, some close to Brown have been rubbishing him all week in off the record briefings in order to lay the ground for getting rid of him. I suspect that he has refused to move and Brown is now so weak that he cannot so anything about it.
